The prosecutors’ decision to refrain from discussing Obama’s deep imbrication in the Rezko scandal during the trial does not exonerate the Senator from Illinois, however. I quote US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who issued the following admonition in the wake of Rezko’s conviction:

U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said the verdict represented “an antidote to the poison of corruption” that trial testimony alleged included the fixing of state boards that controlled a $40 billion pension fund and made major decisions about million-dollar hospital construction. He expressed hope it would have an effect on Illinois politicians. “If morals don’t get to them, I hope the fear of going to jail does,” Fitzgerald told reporters.

Fitzgerald and the prosecutors are particularly concerned with Obama’s acceptance of “straw” campaign contributions others made on Rezko’s behalf.

Mark Levin Cites Olbermann Watch, Reports on Keith's Tax Cheating

On his Friday night radio program, constitutional attorney Mark Levin reported on Keith Olbermann's pattern of tax dodging. He wanted to know why Oralmann and MSLSD refuse to address Keith's repeated failures to play by the rules and pay his fair share of taxes. This of course is tax money that undoubtedly would have been spent on shelter for homeless veterans, baby formula for starving infants, and educational benefits for our returning troops, instead of being used by Herr Olbermann to secure his Trump Palace crib. I'll tell you that for many years I had enormous respect for Ralph Nader for his efforts to protect consumers.

I will also tell you that from the 2000 election on, I detested Ralph Nader for going back on his word that he would not campaign actively in any state where polls showed a very small margin between Gore and Bush. Florida polls showed Gore and Bush very close, but Nader campaigned there anyway and garnered 95,000 votes, throwing the election to Bush.

I still seethe with anger at Nader, but to give him his due, he does speak plainly. and here he is explaining what's going on with Barack Obama.

Nader is right this time.

In modern times, no Democrat with as thin a resume as Obama has ever gotten the Party's nomination for president.

When in the course of political events it becomes advantageous for a presidential candidate to dissolve a campaign promise, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that the candidate at least refrain from wrapping himself in the Declaration of Independence.

Not Barack Obama.

"Our opponents are dedicated to manipulating this broken system to raise as much money as possible -- and they've proven they are very good at it," Obama's site declares. No mention that Obama's been pretty good at it himself, raising $295 million to John McCain's $122 million. "To compete" -- as if he wouldn't be competitive otherwise -- "Barack has decided to keep putting his faith in ordinary people like you giving only what you can afford."

Ordinary people, that is, if your definition of ordinary people includes bundlers who can collect six- and even seven-figure sums for your campaign. Because even as he was rhapsodizing in public about "the grass-roots values that have already changed our politics and brought us this far," Obama was PRIVATELY cozying up to Hillary Clinton's major fundraisers.

What's galling is Obama's effort to portray himself through this entire episode as somehow different from, and purer than, the ordinary politician. Different might have been coupling the announcement with a self-imposed limit on the size of donations. Different might have been -- it could still be -- taking the big checks but acknowledging that, since bundlers will be bringing in even bigger hauls, disclosure should be adjusted accordingly, to reveal not only who raised $200,000 but also who brought in $500,000, who $1 million.

Obama's not the first politician to break a promise. He may be the first to do so in the guise of John Hancock, exuberantly signing the Declaration.

He already has enough of those with Keith Olbermann, Arianna Huffington, Newsweek and the rest of the news media swallowing everything he throws their way.

The outcome of the Democratic primary was determined by the DNC and the mainstream media's love affair with Obama. Numerous studies reported a pro-Obama bias in both favorability ratings of stories and minutes of air time. Early in the primary season Diane Sawyer asked, "Are we using boxing gloves on Hillary Clinton and kid gloves on Barack Obama?" Saturday Night Live questioned the "soft" treatment Obama was getting from the press. Over eighty-percent of voters recognized a pro-Obama media bias, but few could spot the subtle and insidious ways news outlets spun statistics to undermine the candidacy of one candidate or enhance the candidacy of another. Here are a few of the most common techniques used by the media.

Report favorable statistics and ignore unfavorable statistics. Jamal Simmons, an Obama supporter and regular on CNN, frequently said, "Obama's won by every metric. He's won the most states and he's won the most delegates." That's spin. If Jamal was a Clinton supporter he'd pick different data points to spin. "Senator Clinton won by almost every metric. She won four out of the five biggest states, the most electoral votes, the most primaries, almost all the swing states and the majority of the popular vote."

Compare one statistic against another to make a good result look bad. When Clinton won Pennsylvania by 10 points pundits hammered home that a month ago she was up 20 points in the polls. Instead of emphasizing what she won, they emphasized what she lost. Comparing polls to primaries is comparing apples to oranges, but pundits counted on viewer ignorance. If the media were pro-Clinton, the tag-line would have been, "Votes Money Can't Buy - after seven grueling weeks of campaigning and outspending Clinton three to one, Obama gets slammed in Pennsylvania by a double digit Clinton win."

When all else fails, look for a statistic within a statistic. Senator Clinton crushed Senator Obama by 35 points in Kentucky after defeating him by 41points in West Virginia. Somber CNN pundits wanted to spin the story in Obama's favor, but how do you spin a 35 point Clinton victory so that Clinton looks bad? Look for a statistic within a statistic. During CNN's exit polling, eighteen percent of white voters said race was important to them. Eighty-eight percent of these voters voted for Senator Clinton. David Gergen, a Democratic strategist for CNN, called this racist voting and labeled Senator Clinton's constituents rednecks, a pejorative for poor white people, developed by African Americans to refer to the fair skinned laborers working next to them in the fields. Gergen implied Kentucky's voters were sub-human and didn't count. He failed to report other statistics within the statistic, namely that sixty-four percent Clinton supporters had gone to college or that sixty-one percent of people who earned over $100,000 a year voted for Senator Clinton.

Confuse the voters with irrelevant statistics and treat them as if they are relevant.

In fact, he missed the 22 January 2008 roll call vote on “Public Law 110-181“, otherwise known as HR 4986, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008, which was signed into law by President George Bush and not by the absent Senator Obama on 28 January 2008. Barack Obama will do and say anything in order to win an election.  He will even disrespect our men and women in uniform by claiming he passed a law on which he did not even cast a vote.

During the caucuses, Obama sent in his Enforcers to dominate and intimidate the other candidates' supporters.

Loaded up with MYTHS about Obama, and full of certitude that he was Their Messiah, the Obamatrons overwhelmed the other candidates' supporters at caucus after caucus.

It was no accident and is NO mystery WHY -- even though Hillary won primaries where people were SAFE from harassment and FREE to vote their consciences without being threatened and bullied by the Obama supporters -- Obama won the caucuses where his bullies shouted the loudest, pushed the hardest, dominated the debates, and prevailed.

At the same time, the Obama campaign sent out hundreds of the Obamazoids to take over the Internet bulletin boards, where they ganged up on the Hillary supporters and finally drove the Hillary supporters off the boards.

One board after another, on the Internet, was "cleansed" of Hillary supporters.

It wasn't ethnic cleansing; but it was political "cleansing" and only ONE political opinion was allowed to be seen or heard.

To someone who loves politics and the debates about politics as much as I do, it was SHOCKING to me that the Obama supporters had NO -- make that ZERO -- interest in debating the issues or even the relative merits of the candidates. Their technique was to heap insults on any Hillary supporters, call them names, accuse them of being "racists" and tell them how many ways they should go love themselves.

These were NOT people interested in political dialogue, these were THUGS interested only in DOMINATION.

Now, Obama is sending out his Brownshirt volunteers to ENFORCE Party "discipline." And anyone who does not support Obama had better start using aliases and pseudonyms unless they want unwanted Brownshirt callers to come knocking on their doors.

This will be different from the fear we had of the "knock in the night" from the government (sent by Bush to the homes of the Bush-criticizers); these will be "freelance enforcers," who will be answerable to no one -- they will just be Obama's Thugs In the Night, or "Obama's Brownshirts" coming to enforce Party "unity."

But it is no longer "unity" within the Democratic Party as we have known it -- is is now going to be a demand for "unity" within the Obama Domination Party.

The Democratic Party is as dead as a goldfish lying belly up in the fish tank.

We've seen this sort of "unity" enforcement before in modern times.

In the 1930s, Hitler sent out his Brownshirts to enforce Party "unity."

I think of the Obamatrons as Obama's Brownshirts -- they are "The Enforcers." Anyone who does not bow the knee to Obama will be "dealt with" by Obama's Brownshirts.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Obamatrons, instead of thinking of this as insulting, think it is a good idea and will start showing up in Brown Shirts.

Obama had spent many months, maybe years, touting his devout support for public funding of presidential elections.

Throughout the campaign he said he would strive to reach an agreement with the Republican nominee that they would both use only public funding for the general election.

McCain has said he WOULD use public funding.

But Obama, in true Obama fashion, had been saying all that baloney only to woo support -- he never meant to take public funding as long as he knew he could outraise the Republican nominee.

It's interesting that on many Internet bulletin boards, the Obamazoids are twisting themselves into pretzels defending Obama for "changing" his mind about this AND about his support for the FISA bill that grants retroactive immunity to the telecom giants that illegally wiretapped American citizens.

If Obama and his supporters hadn't spent the last year being so sanctimonious about Obama's "wonderfulness" and telling us Obama was a :new" sort of politician, this might not be as outrageous a reversal as it is.

Obama is NOT a "new" or better kind of politician; he is the most recognizable sort of corrupt politician -- one who never tells the truth or keeps his word or his promises.

Even $85 million wasn't enough to get Barack Obama to keep his promise

BARACK OBAMA isn't abandoning his pledge to take public financing for the general election campaign because it's in his political interest. Certainly not. He isn't about to become the first candidate since Watergate to run an election fueled entirely with private money because he will be able to raise far more that way than the mere $85 million he'd get if he stuck to his promise -- and with which his Republican opponent, John McCain, will have to make do. No, Mr. Obama, or so he would have you believe, is forgoing the money because he is so committed to public financing. Really, it hurts him more than it hurts Fred Wertheimer.

Pardon the sarcasm. But given Mr. Obama's earlier pledge to "aggressively pursue" an agreement with the Republican nominee to accept public financing, his effort to cloak his broken promise in the smug mantle of selfless dedication to the public good is a little hard to take. "It's not an easy decision, and especially because I support a robust system of public financing of elections," Mr. Obama said in a video message to supporters.

Mr. Obama didn't mention his previous proposal to take public financing if the Republican nominee agreed to do the same -- the one for which he received heaps of praise from campaign finance reform advocates such as Mr. Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, and others, including us. He didn't mention, as he told the Federal Election Commission last year in seeking to preserve the option, that "Congress concluded some thirty years ago that the public funding alternative . . . would serve core purposes in the public interest: limiting the escalation of campaign spending and the associated pressures on candidates to raise, at the expense of time devoted to public dialogue, ever vaster sums of money."

Instead, he cast his abandonment of the system as a bold good-government move. "This is our moment, and our country is depending on us," he said. "So join me, and declare your independence from this broken system and let's build the first general election campaign that's truly funded by the American people." Sure, and if the Founding Fathers were around today, they'd have bundlers, too.

Mr. Obama had an opportunity here to demonstrate that he really is a different kind of politician, willing to put principles and the promises he has made above political calculation. He made a different choice, and anyone can understand why: He's going to raise a ton of money. Mr. McCain played games with taking federal matching funds for the primaries until it turned out he didn't need them, and he had a four-month head start in the general election while Mr. Obama was still battling for the nomination. Outside groups are going to come after him. He has thousands of small donors along with his big bundlers. And so on.

Fine. Politicians do what politicians need to do. But they ought to spare us the self-congratulatory back-patting while they're doing it.

I'm beginning to think that in many ways a President Obama would be WORSE that even President Bush has been.

Obama's got an ace-in-the-hole he can use (and HAS used) to control and ELIMINATE ALL dissent and criticism: everyone would be afraid to say anything negative about Obama or his policies for FEAR of being labeled a "RACIST."

The media would tell us we "must" cut the first "African-American" president extra slack just because he is "the first African-American president."

NO ONE would be able to thwart Obama or say one negative thing about him, or the Obama "enforcers" would go after him or her.

How do I know this?

Because it has already happened.

Look at what happened to the Clintons. For decades, both Clintons were beloved in the black community because blacks knew the Clintons were on their side, and cared about them, and fought for issues important to blacks.

But Barack Obama has now turned even the Clintons into "racists" even though they aren't and never were.

It's a lesson learned by the media and any politician who might DARE to thwart Obama's plans or say one negative thing about Obama.

Here's Obama, recently: "They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?"

So, you see, if you dare to mention that Obama is "young and inexperienced" or suggest that he's incompetent or a fraud, Obama's ace-in-the-hole is that in saying anything negative about Obama, you reveal yourself as a "racist."

Get ready for it.

Obama would have us believe there cannot be ANY reason other than "racism" why anyone would not worship him. (There's a name for that sort of fantasizing.)

Well, I can think of a few reasons why not to worship Obama. For starters, he's a duplicitous, manipulative, angry, whiney, nasty liar.

Paula Abeles appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to respond to the vicious attacks — attacks that all of us are all too familiar with. I do not recall another campaign or its supporters behaving in such a repugnant, threatening manner. What is it about Barack Obama that brings out this hatred and viciousness in people? I repeat: I have never seen anything like this. It is deplorable. I am appalled that Obama has done NOTHING about this widespread behavior. (Media, if you are reading: The stories we could tell you would make you appalled at what we have had to deal with — direct threats as well as slander. It is hard to live in fear for one’s life simply because of our political views — what kind of country is this becoming?! If this is what “hope” and “change,” bring, GOD help us all.)

The more you antagonize Hillary, even in absentia, the more I begin to actively detest you and let me tell, you don’t want another Scorpio hating on you. You will not recover from it. Trust me.

The “pundits and the party leaders” have determined that you will be John McCain’s opponent in November, or at least until you go ‘splody in a great big ball of Howard Dean-scented flames. So be it. I believe that was an ill-made (see ethically- and monetarily-handicapped) decision. I have also decided that because of the way you’ve behaved, you juvenile, cheek-scratching, dirt-off-your-shoulder swatting, arugula-sucking, Spanish-ham nipping, policy-stealing, under-the-bus-throwing hack, that I can’t vote for you. I know, I know, you don’t care about me. I’m dirt on your shoulder and all that rubbish. Fine, fine, stop your kvetching.

You’re lucky right now. Many, many people who have decided not to vote for you have also decided not to vote for John McCain. That’s good for you. Here’s a chance that just might win you the election in November if you listen. Tell them how wonderful Hillary is, and how smart. Talk about the fact that you stole all of her old ideas because even the old ones were brilliant, just not as brilliant as the new ones. Tell them how you’ll call her every night to ask her advice because she’s infinitely more knowledgeable than you. Tell them how you really wish the SDs had picked her because even you would’ve slept better at night knowing that she was the one with her finger on the big red button since button literacy was one of the few things they didn’t give remedial classes on at Harvard. (And, we know you were in the remedial classes. Be honest.)

Once you’ve done all that, do the truly good thing and tell her to go back on vacation—whenever she comes back. You know that you—and your robber barons—are the reason the entire party establishment decided to stab a tried and true elder in the back. You know that, I know that, Hillary and Bill know that, but I think we’d all feel much better if it was said aloud, near a microphone and assembled press. Really, I think it’s time. Then, after that’s done, I want you to say, “I intend to win this on my own. I’m not gonna stand on the backs of black people and rich folks’ hired help to win this one. I’m gonna stand on my own two feet. Not on Hillary feet, or President Clinton’s. I will campaign in all 50 states in my campaign for the Presidency…But not today.”

Why not today, you may ask. I’ll tell you why, darling. It isn’t your time. You have a very long time to run for President. (Try 2016 on for size.) This isn’t a matter of entitlement on the part of the Clinton faction; it’s called practicality on the part of people in need. Wake up and smell the doom. The “paranoid holdouts” smell it something awful.

The country is in a tailspin of economic and cultural conflict. We are struggling to consume scarce resources, because the resources are, in fact, scarce and because money is even more so. Average people—who work for a living, who balance their checkbooks every other day in case a dollar’s gotten out of check, who mend clothes instead of replace them, who can afford to have air-conditioning in their homes but know damn well they can’t afford to turn it on during the worse days of summer—don’t have time for your brand of Hope-y Charms. Average people, when they aren’t toiling under the weight of an upside down mortgage for which there seems to be no remedy, are trying to decide if they can afford to live in a country where abortion is no longer an option—when for many of the poorest, it may be the only one. They are trying to decide how badly they want alienate their child who has just admitted for the first time the boy she’s been too embarrassed to bring home is really her childhood best friend, who’s lived next door all along. Can they see her in love and say they never want her to know the joy of a real wedding? They don’t know, but they’re trying so hard to decide.

Now, of all times, we can ill-afford someone who is only tepidly devoted to the vital needs of people in this country. That means you, Barack. You don’t care about these people. Don’t deny that. You are indeed caught up in the concept of yourself as President. You want to be the figurehead but you have no desire to do the work. You don’t care if you are another Jimmy Carter; you’re the first Black President, no matter what. They can’t take that away from you, can they? No, they can’t.

But we can.

And we have every intention in the world of ensuring that you never see the inside of the Oval Office.

You have insulted every one of us, if not with your actions, with your silence when our duly-chosen representative, our leader, was savaged in your name. You looked down like a boy-king as your regent was drawn-and-quartered when you had finally decided to ascend to your throne. You have no sympathy—certainly no empathy—and you couldn’t spare even a moment to sincerely defend her. There isn’t a second of this travesty that isn’t engrained in my memory, and that my future children won’t hear of as I think back on the greatness of one woman, and of the mightiest of glass ceilings that stands, more undead than intact, above our heads. There won’t be another like her, Barack, this woman who you’ve stopped with a brick wall when a historic bullet wouldn’t do.

And if there is, some woman who is so enormously prepared, she won’t run. Who would subject themselves to these months of endless torment just to serve a bunch of poor, starving, uninsured, commoners? I can name a woman, but I find myself hard-pressed to name another. Can you? It certainly isn’t Michelle.

It’s you, not us, who have stopped history from being made this year. Hillary would’ve been President without question. Not a byte of data refutes it. You, however, have an alternate destiny. You see, because it is our moral responsibility to keep you away from the White House. The country would never recover from four years of your brand of Democratic corruption in Washington. Eight years of fraudulent, criminal right-wing hucksters have nearly done the nation in, but you, you would be the death of it. So, while you sit there and contemplate the number of new registered voters you’ve got and all that mythical—somewhere someplace—money, remember that there is no amount of “kissing” or flashing your Ba-Rocks at us that will make us vote for you. It’s not the size of your Ba-Rocks or the capacity of your bank account; it’s the depth of your compassion and the breadth of your character.

That, sweetheart, is where you come up so short that you shouldn’t be allowed to be a Salvation Army volunteer, much less be elected President. Partly for those reasons, you won’t be.

The point of this long trip to why I’ll never vote for you is this: If you want me to keep being good and not be a McCain Democrat, you and your thugs—yeah, I said it, thugs—will begin to leave Hillary alone, starting now. Every time you bring her up and insult her, I send out an email. Every time you laugh about angry, “typical white wom[e]n,” a voter that I know personally will lose their will to vote. Every time you offend another state or another demographic that you “won’t need to win in November,” I’ll write another post like this.

Be nice to Hillary, be nice to Bill, and most importantly, shut the hell up. Accept your defeat as imminent, but bask in the notion that you have made “more history” than Hillary. Feel free to ignore that pain in your leg, that’s just me and the voodoo doll.

You say you’ve won this nomination and that you don’t need me—or my 18 million closest friends. All right then. Win without us. However, that means, you have to win without Hillary, too. She, no doubt, voted for herself. Therefore, she’s one more of those over-forty white broads you can do without.

For the first time in my adult life, I’m not proud to be black in America. And frankly, I’m hoping to leave.

The Wisconsin Democratic Party moved Friday to strip a woman of her position as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention after she told a newspaper she would vote for Republican Sen. John McCain for president in November.

State party members voted at their convention Friday night to challenge Debra Bartoshevich's status as a delegate to the Denver convention in late August, when Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is expected to get the party's presidential nomination.

Bartoshevich, of Waterford, supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign and was elected a Clinton delegate from the 1st Congressional District. She was certified as a national delegate by the party last month.

When Clinton bowed out of the race last weekend, she urged her supporters to do all they can to elect Obama.

But Bartoshevich told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as reported on its Web site Friday, that Clinton was treated unfairly by the party and she has deep reservations about Obama's experience, so she'll vote for McCain.

Those comments prompted Democrats to support a complaint asking the national party's credentials committee to refuse to seat her at the convention. The resolution said Bartoshevich violated a Democratic National Committee rule requiring delegates to support the party's nominee and not any other candidate.

That’s right folks, Howard Dean and Barky Obama are in each other’s pants, so to speak, and have been from Day One. Hillary Clinton never had a chance with the DNC. Nobody would have had a chance. The voters had no chance. The Plan was to put Howard Dean’s candidate, Barack Obama, in the candidate’s slot at all and any costs. Judging from what we have seen in the past year, this is not so hard to believe at all.

The idea here is to turn the internet into a constant Pro Obama “echo”. This includes going where people who do not support Obama are. It also included driving all Hillary supporters away from presumably “objective” sites until the sites become All Obama All The Time.

The most recent example of Obama-Planned onslaught was seen Sunday, when many established bloggers’ and message board users’ names and their links (including my own) were nearly simultaneously forged in messages on forums and blogs all over the net. The messages, falsely bearing our names, stated that we have had a “change of heart” and now “support Barack Obama”.

I couldn’t help thinking of Postman’s classic work — written nearly a quarter of a century ago — as I watched, MSNBC’s cockeyed coverage of the final chapter of the Democratic primary race as it unfolded over the past week or so. On Monday night, in response to John McCain’s shameless ploy of trying to marginalize Barack Obama by defining his victory as one that was partially achieved through the media’s embracing of him as a fellow elitist liberal, Chris Mathews, Keith Olberman and the crew indulged themselves in some presumably serious navel-gazing to examine whether or not McCain’s transparent charges had any merit — especially the part about the “left-wing media’s” trashing of Hillary Clinton in order to help coronate their untested and shallow comrade.

It was particularly amusing to watch Jonathan Alter indignantly pooh-pooh the claim that Obama got a more benevolent treatment than Clinton, when he himself had spent the better part of three months sneering and wearily mocking much of what the Clinton campaign did, while barely uttering a discouraging word about the Illinois senator. Olberman was equally incapable of admitting his Obama devotion, nor recognizing the prissy outrage he exhibited in his tedious litanies lashing out at Clinton’s clearly Lady Macbeth-like behavior. (In one rather humorous instance a few months ago, Olberman practically hyperventilated when the story broke about Obama’s passport information being tapped into, calling in John Dean and excitedly asking him if this incident could turn into another Watergate. The next day when the info came out that Clinton had suffered the same fate, Watergate evaporated.)

Barack Obama NEVER -- during TWENTY YEARS of sermons -- heard the Rev. Wright say those RACIST and anti-America things.

Barack Obama was "shocked, shocked" that his good friend and political financier for SEVENTEEN YEARS, Tony REZKO, was a corrupt thug and criminal.

Barack Obama is a coward, a liar, and a sleaze.

Now, listen to me: Obama is trying to say that since the man he chose to head up the team that will "vet" VP candidates is not paid, it does not matter that this man (Jim Johnson) is a SLEAZY and corrupt character. BUT, Dick Cheney was also NOT paid when he headed up the team that vetted VP candidates for Bush. In fact, I NEVER heard of anyone "paying" the team the vets VP candidates.

The sheer power involved is enough "compensation" for anyone in the political game.

Is Obama STUPID or does he assume WE are stupid?

First some key information:

•Senator Clinton does indeed have enormous primary debt that she must retire and that is a key focus for her staff right now.

•Any money donated to Senator Clinton's campaign at her website goes to that retire the debt, so long as those funds are coming from people not already maxed out to the primary.

•If you are maxed out to the primary, and you donate to the website, you will be asked, eventually, if that money can be reallocated to Senator Clinton's campaign fund for reelection to the U.S. Senate in 2012. The campaign's legal team says that money cannot go to retire the debt but it means that Senator Clinton and her supporters can focus on the debt and free her from worry about funds for that Senate race, which itself would cost at $20 million. (A note from me, NOT the campaign: should Senator Clinton end up running for President, either this election year or in 2012, she could ask donors if she could use funds from her Senate campaign war chest for that purpose.

Now to the rest of the call's substance: Rest assured, neither Terry nor Jonathan nor any of the people who spoke on the call (including me) are happy with the D.N.C.'s treatment of Senator Clinton. However as always on calls like this, Jonathan started by thanking us for our help and for being on the call today; he and Terry noted major goals achieved during the past eighteen months. And then they opened the call to questions.

This is when things got as intense as I have heard on almost any phone call I have participated on in my life, professional or personal.

Many commented that Senator Obama had not said a word to stop the abusive treatment she received during this campaign season. Much bigger fish than I who were on the call explained that neither they nor their "networks" would contribute a dime to the D.N.C. any time soon and nobody I heard was stepping up to raise money for Senator Obama. Speaker after speaker made it crystal clear that they and their contacts simply will not accept the current state of affairs regarding the D.N.C. and Senator Obama's treatment of Senator Clinton.

As always, Terry and Jonathan really listened. Terry McAuliffe himself said that he has never seen a major candidate treated so disgracefully - "like dirt" - by the media, and he is well aware that Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Obama did not raise a finger to object.

Sen. Barack Obama employed and continues to employ senior staffers who belong to the Nation of Islam, and the presidential candidate has some "worrying" ties to the controversial group headed by Louis Farrakhan, a former key Obama insider told WND.

The former insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed particular concern that Obama employed at least two Nation members in his early days as a state senator, when his office was staffed by only a handful of workers.

"When you're a state senator, you have little money given to you to hire staff. It is ironic that two of Obama's employees in those days were known Nation of Islam activists when Obama employed perhaps a total of maybe three or four staffers," said the former insider.

I turned 18 in November. My first thought? Oh God, I have to vote. I hadn’t listened to the pundits, I didn’t even know who was running. Some Hispanic guy, some black guy, and the former First Lady of the United States; oh, and some other white guys. The only one I recognized was Edwards and my heart did an awful large thump for what could’ve been in 2004. (I hadn’t forgiven John Kerry for conceding Ohio, I still haven’t and he’s invoked my ire ever since.) Yet, it wasn’t John Edwards and his invincible haircut that caught my attention; it was the woman I had never noticed and the history I’d never cared about.

For the first time ever, I noticed Hillary Rodham Clinton outside of Bill Clinton’s shadow. I noticed a woman who dared to stand side-by-side on a stage with a large group of men and consider them her equal. I saw a woman who had a mind like a mantrap, who could recall facts like the kids I know can Google. I saw her make fools out of her competitors when they just didn’t know answers that came naturally to her. I was more than impressed.

Then, the season truly began and I saw Hillary Clinton lose Iowa. Then, I saw her win New Hampshire. Then I saw her lose some and win some on Super Tuesday. Best of all I got to watch somebody play the race card and somebody else be framed for doing it. Reminds me of a shirt a lot my friends have. There’s a cute white bunny on it and beneath the bunny it reads: “I did it, but I’m blaming you.”

Yep, that sounds about right. Do you know why Hillary Rodham Clinton won New Hampshire? According to one “political analyst,” or those who get paid to regurgitate what the Washington Post says verbatim, it was the Bradley effect. The Bradley effect takes place when polled likely voters claim they will vote for a minority candidate but fail to do as much when they are in the voting booth. The insinuation: closeted racism. That was just the first indication that this primary wasn’t going to be fair, but it was far from the last.

South Carolina came and the biggest double-edged sword to be forged came out full force and he went by the name of William Jefferson Clinton. He was a gift on the stump. He was all charm and down home sweetness, but he was a wonk and there was no denying that East Coast education. He was an asset to Hillary Clinton that could not be denied. So he had to be neutralized—and best believe that he was.

By February 15th, Bill Clinton barely dared to stick his head in view of a camera lest he be misquoted and vilified for the nineteenth time. Suddenly, the “first black president,” as coined by Toni Morrison, was the first KKKlan President. He and his wife, both with a lifetime of civil rights advocacy and battles behind them were outcasts in a community that once revered them. For what reason? What could he and his wife possibly gain by espousing racism after all this time?

Not.

A.

Thing.

What had made Hillary Clinton so formidable was the sheer size of her coalition. She had African-Americans, one of the most dependable voting blocks in the Democratic Party, she had working Americans who remembered what life under a Clinton was like. She had her determination and she was in it to win it. Nobody else was of any real consequence. That is, until the first-term Senator from Illinois stood up to bat.

…And the pieces came tumbling down.

He showed up. He spoke out loud. The masses—though not the majority—fell to their knees in awe. I didn’t. I was neither impressed nor fooled. The media was. The party leaders loved what he brought to the game. He had style, had new voters, he had money. Oh, they had tingles up and down their legs. This was February, around the time that I realized that the fix was in. Naively, I still hoped that things could change. I think that even Hillary did.

A string of bare defeats and incredible victories later, here we are. It’s June 8th, the day after Hillary Rodham Clinton has suspended her campaign for the presidency in order to endorse Barack Obama. I and many thousands—perhaps millions—of others are left without a leader. It isn’t as easy as saying “let Democrats be Democrats” and vote Democrat. What we’ve seen these last two months was far from Democratic. I’ve seen so many minority cards played that I can’t stand the card game anymore.

I’ve seen a distinguished Senator and beloved First Lady verbally molested in a fashion I would never allow if I were a producer on network or cable television. I’ve seen death threats leveled against her. I’ve seen more than a single man or woman say that all it would take was a good “doing over” for Hillary to see the light, whatever that proverbial light was. I’ve seen men laugh at her laugh. I’ve seen the nutcracker and boys who call themselves men talking about the way they gird their loins when she comes anywhere near them. I’ve seen those same boys where the masks of saints when she deigns to entertain their company only to sneer at her back on exit.

I’ve seen a party that has claimed as its mantle the interests of the people turn their noses up at their expressed desires in direct violation of their very own written rules. They’ve said, “We must respect the rules.” Why thank you, Alice Germond. Sadly, those rules state that they also should’ve respected the voters. (Rule 13 A of the Democratic Party Rules & Bylaws, entitled Fair Reflection of Presidential Preference, if any can be bothered recall.) But those weren’t the rules they were interested in and so weren’t the rules they followed. Democracy didn’t die the day we allowed the best President we would’ve ever known to leave history with no impression; it died the day that 30 people decided that their desires were more pressing than the expressed wishes of 600,000 people in Michigan and 1.7 million in Florida.

Until the very last primary I prayed that someone in the party would see sense. I even prayed they’d defend my candidate against the harsh, uneven criticism leveled against her by the media and her opponents. The problem wasn’t that she couldn’t defend herself; the problem was that she had to defend both herself and her opponent with her hands tied behind her back. Any historical fact—from the most trivial and benign to those even minutely inflammatory—became a gaffe and sandstorm. The news cycle for her was lost time and again to media-made monsoons of Tuzla (never-ending, I recall), to LBJ & JFK (true, however, it was), to RFK and his assassination on the 6th of June. She couldn’t win the day for losing because if it was folly, it made her a fool and if it was true, it was anyone and everyone’s dog whistle.

Her opponent didn’t and hasn’t faced that. I imagine he won’t. Now that the media has picked him—and the party leaders have gone along with it—they’re gonna have to save him from himself. By not vetting him or questioning his many “misspeaks” or gaffes, they’ve left the country to choose between the lesser of who-cares and why-should-I. They’re gonna have to cover their bottom lines.

They had a brilliant mind and an iron will. They turned her away.

They had an unbeatable candidate and a popular, voter-driven mandate. They said, “No, thanks.”

They had the White House in November, like they promised. They decided they wanted the hot, red car instead, with the dollar signs on the hood, something they can drive home and show their kids.

They wanted to be rich and cool. They didn’t need those poor working-class people to cramp their style. They didn’t want those Latinos, or Asians, or LGBT people, or the disabled, or the elderly, or the Jewish, or the Catholic people reminding them of how things used to be. They didn’t want to be reminded of those horrid “old politics.” You know, the kind espoused by the foolhardy Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the lackluster Harry Truman, by that truly despicable John F. Kennedy, and even further still by that disgustingly traitorous American Lyndon B. Johnson who fought for the Civil Rights Acts, bent arms and bent ears to bring it to life. He lost the South forever for the Democrats but brought morality back to the American consciousness, that loathsome toad. And how ever will we forget Robert F. Kennedy, who lived and died on his ideals, the ideals embraced by a generation and that saw their completion decades after his own senseless end. Damn those old politics, nothing good ever came of them. Guess it’s time to try something new.

Hope and change. Those very words have lit the torches and the candles of a dozen movements that have carried this country forward to where it is and I imagine that those words will carry many others in the future. Nevertheless, what no ones wishes to address or be caught addressing is the fact that “just words” will never change the world. If there is no mind to a movement, it becomes chaos or worse. What we have now is a war of “just words” that without distinction will be interpreted in any way our opponents see fit. What we have now is an opponent that is not impressed with just words that are pretty, and words that are light. We have an opponent who laughs at our sonnets and our metaphors, whose spirit does not lift with a good hymn, and a chant makes him punchy. We have an adversary who is all about “straight-talk.”

Hope and change will not deter him. Hope never put a dollar into an empty bank account. Change is the thing a struggling mother is looking for when the food stamps don’t cover Pampers and milk. Hope is what that same mother has when she can’t get out of bed, but she can’t miss work today—she just can’t! Change is what happens when she has to take her kids and sneak away from her apartment in the middle of the night because the change she used to buy the Pampers isn’t there to pay the rent.

Everyday Americans will just have to keep holding on for another term more. Democrats aren’t gonna save them like they promised. How do I know? I know because the “Democrat” they picked has exactly one hope in the hell of being elected. I’ve met the Republicans, most of America has—John Kerry has certainly met them. Thanks to them and their fair friends, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Senator Kerry hasn’t seen the inside of the White House save for on the Christmas tour, and he won’t ever again. That’s a common sentiment among Democrats—and no doubt will become familiar to the party’s “nominee.”

To quote the eminent Maxine Waters of California, “We don’t need hope, what we need is help.” Sadly, neither Representative Waters nor the rest of her Super Delegate compatriots are in any position to give us that help. They have done the politically expedient thing, they have spoken aloud and made themselves heard; they have covered their backs—and left us in the rain.

By 2012, most of them will still have their homes, unlike more than a million working-class Americans thanks to the foreclosure crisis.

Expect gas prices to get so expensive that working isn’t worth the cost anymore. Between gas, taxes, utilities, and—I don’t know—being alive, there’s just no sense in it. A living wage isn’t one if you can’t live on it, and everyday Americans can’t keep living like this.

Doctor? You don’t need no stinking doctor. You won’t have anything to live on during retirement anyway, so I wouldn’t plan to live that long. Haven’t you heard? Universal Healthcare Coverage is for other countries. Dying unnecessarily is an honor and a privilege in the United States. Get used to it.

As for global warming, I suggest you buy, in bulk, shorts and flip-flops. Don’t expect Al Gore to stick his neck out for you now. God knows there isn’t a Democrat left who will.

But what can I say? It’s evidently a great year to be a “Democratic” Party Leader. It’s just a really, really awful year to be a run-of-the-mill Democrat.

"I felt this thrill going up my leg," said MSNBC's Chris Matthews after one of the Senator's speeches. "I mean, I don't have that too often." Au contraire, Chris and the rest of the gang seem to be getting the old tingle up the thigh hairs on a nightly basis. If Obama is political Viagra, the media are at that stage in the ad where the announcer warns that, if leg tingles persist for over six months, see your doctor.

Out there in the voting booths, however, Democrat legs stayed admirably UN-THRILLED. The more the media told Hillary she was toast and she should get the hell out of it and let Obama romp to victory, the more Democrats insisted on voting for her. The more the media insisted Barack was inevitable, the less inclined the voters were to get with the program. On the strength of Chris Matthews' vibrating calves, Senator Obama raised a ton of money -- over $300 million -- and MASSIVELY OUTSPENT Senator Clinton, but he DIDN'T really get ANY bang for his buck. In the end, he CRAWLED over the finish line. The Obama Express came a-hurtlin' down the track at TWO miles an hour.

But what does he care? Senator Obama has learned an old trick of Bill Clinton's: If you behave like a star, you'll get treated as one. So, even as his numbers weakened, his rhetoric soared. By the time he wrapped up his "victory" speech last week, the great gaseous uplift had his final paragraphs floating in delirious hallucination along the Milky Way.

Antoin “Tony” Rezko, a Syrian-born property developer and political fixer whose wife helped the Obamas buy their home, showed no emotion as he was found guilty of 16 of 24 counts of fraud and money laundering by a jury in Chicago.

The corruption charges against Rezko have dogged Mr Obama’s presidential campaign, casting a shadow over his pledge of “change we can believe in.” Mr Obama has donated over $150,000 of Rezko-related contributions to charity.

Rezko met Mr Obama in 1990 and was one of the earliest fundraisers for his nascent political career. The two became entwined in a controversial property deal in 2005, a year after Mr Obama was elected to the US Senate, when the Obamas bought a mock Georgian home and Mr Rezko’s wife bought the adjoining garden on the same day.

No worries. The DNC will smooth *this* all over for Precious, too.

The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women’s Event.

Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.

Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Women’s Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant — his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.

For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on “whitey”, and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that’s when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who’s seen this.

The “tape” is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity’s site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.
